With the characters being twins, the writers are setting up the rest of the story with this relationship in mind. Lumine (name translates to light, associated with yang) is the representation of the yin energy, and wearing white an association with the yang energy. You could also argue the other way, but that will be my personal interpretation. The hint to this is the colour of his clothing, being black, a yin association.

Both forces do not exclusively contain yin or yang, though an equilibrium of each. The symbol associated with the concept is a small amount of one of the forces, completely surrounded by it's opposing force and then with the opposite on the other end, creating a concept of 'balance'. Yin and yang are opposing and equal forces, made up of each other. Following that is my personal analysis on what I think it personally means for the future of the game and what maybe I think Hoyo may add as future parts to the story and why.
